PureCodex
Last updated: October 14, 2026
The short version: PureCodex does not collect any data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it makes no network connections at all. Your notes are ordinary Markdown files in a folder you choose, and they never leave that folder through the app. The camera and Face ID are used only when you ask for them, and nothing from either reaches us.
1. Data collection
We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. PureCodex has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising. We operate no servers in connection with this app, so there is nothing for us to receive.
2. Your notes
Your library stays in the folder you picked. Every note, hub and attachment in PureCodex is a plain Markdown file or an ordinary file inside a folder you choose on your device. The app reads and writes those files where they live — nothing is imported into a private database, uploaded, or converted into a closed format.
When the app organizes your library it writes its index files into the same folder, in the same open Markdown format, where you can read or delete them like anything else.
3. Folders in iCloud Drive
If the folder you choose is inside iCloud Drive, your files are synced by Apple's iCloud, under your own Apple Account, and Apple's iCloud terms apply to them — not ours. That is a service you already use; PureCodex is not part of it, has no iCloud container of its own, and sends nothing to us.
4. Camera
PureCodex uses the camera only when you take a photo into an item. The photo is saved as a file in your folder, next to the item it belongs to. The app does not access the camera at any other time and does not send photos anywhere.
5. Face ID and locked hubs
A locked hub is a part of your library whose file contents are encrypted on your device (XChaCha20-Poly1305, with a key derived from your password by Argon2id). Two things are not encrypted, and you should know it: file names and attachments such as photos and PDFs stay readable to anyone who can open the folder.
If you turn on Face ID for a locked hub, the key that opens it is kept in this device's Keychain, protected by Face ID, so the hub opens without typing the password — on this device only. Face ID is handled entirely by Apple: your biometric data never leaves the Secure Enclave, and the app receives only a yes or no. Your password and your recovery code are never sent anywhere.
6. AI agents you connect yourself
Because your library is an ordinary folder, you can open it in an AI agent of your choice, such as Claude. If you do, that agent sends what it reads to its own provider, under the agent's own terms. That happens outside PureCodex and is not done by the app. If a part of your library should not be read this way, keep it in a locked hub.
7. Data stored on your device
PureCodex stores a few settings in its own storage on the device: the location of the folder you opened, the interface language, the auto-lock delay, the notes you opened recently, and a quick note you started but have not saved yet, so it is not lost if the app closes. None of it leaves the device.
To remove all of it, delete the app. Your library folder is not touched by uninstalling, because it was never inside the app.
8. Network connections
PureCodex makes no network connections at all. It contains no networking code of its own and no third-party services, and it works identically with the device in airplane mode.
9. Purchases
PureCodex is free. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions, so no payment information is ever involved.
10. Third-party services
None. PureCodex bundles no analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting services. Its components — the editor, the Markdown renderer, the search, and the encryption — all run locally on your device.
11. Children
PureCodex is suitable for users of all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
