Atelier Watch

Tell the workshop.A watch to draw next, or a detail that is wrong.

There are four collections today — dress, dive, pilot and GMT. Which one comes next is decided by what people ask for. And if something on a dial is not right, the correction is worth more than the request: this is an app for people who notice, and it is only as good as what they report.

One email, and nothing else

There is no form on this page and no account to make. Atelier Watch collects no data at all, and a request page that quietly did would contradict the app it belongs to. So a request is an email, sent by you, from your own mail app — pick the closest heading below and it opens pre-addressed with a subject.

A watch to draw next

Four that are already on the list, to save you describing one from scratch. They are categories, not any maker's design — nothing drawn here copies a protected dial, only the shared vocabulary of the category.

  • A field watch

Matte dial, full Arabic numerals, an inner 13–24 ring. The most legible thing on this list, and the furthest from the dress watch.

  • A Bauhaus dial

Hairline indices, a printed minute railway, no bezel to speak of. Almost nothing on it, which makes every remaining line load-bearing.

  • An integrated sport watch

A textured dial and an angular bezel — the 1970s steel sports vocabulary, drawn as geometry rather than as a specific model.

  • Something else

Describe the watch rather than naming a brand — the bezel, the markers, the hands. That is what gets drawn, and it is also the only thing that can be drawn without copying anyone.

A detail that is wrong

The dials follow the conventions of real watches, and where they get one wrong it is worth hearing. An invitation to correct something is not worth much until it can point at a correction that happened, so:

IIII — the four was written IV, which no watch dial does
hand length — all four collections were too short to reach their tracks

What happens to it

It is read by the developer, and that is the whole process. Requests are counted by hand; there is no database and no mailing list. Your address is used to reply to you and for nothing else — the site privacy policy covers what happens to an email you send.
